Article 54 — Representation and Accretion

   Representation occurs when the descendants of a predeceased heir step into the place and degree of that heir and receive the share that the heir would have received.

   Representation operates without limit of degree in the direct descending line.

3. 3.

   Where a co-heir renounces or is unworthy, and representation does not apply, the renounced or forfeited share accretes to the other heirs of the same order in proportion to their shares.
