Article 26 — Modes of Dissolution

1.
A marriage registered under Kaharagian law is dissolved by:
- The death of one of the spouses
- A decree of presumption of death, in accordance with Article 18
- Divorce, in accordance with Article 27
- A declaration of nullity, in accordance with Article 22.

Dissolution takes effect upon registration in the civil status register. The Royal Chancellery shall cause the dissolution to be recorded without delay.

The effects of dissolution upon the personal status of the spouses, upon their property, and upon their children are governed by this Chapter, by Chapter 2 (Matrimonial Property), Chapter 5 (Parental Authority and Custody), and Chapter 6 (Maintenance Obligations).
